On May 28, 2016, one day after his 17th birthday, Harambe the Gorilla was shot and killed by the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in Cincinnati, Ohio, when a 3 year old boy fell into his enclosure. Many people have since been touched by the tale of Harambe, and have done everything they can to continue his memory, from internet memes to tribute songs. We would like for President Obama to declare every May 28 to be National Harambe Day, not only to remember our dear gorilla friend, but to also help spread awareness of animal rights and to help stop animal abuse.
