It is important because medical assistants are a common occurrence when going to the doctor's office, hospital, etc. Medical Assistants should be able to say they are licensed because of the knowledge we obtain throughout schooling. We are not lesser than any other healthcare professional. Being licensed means medical assistants also get more respect from the public who are most often patients.
