Allow all people to buy Medicare as a public option for their health insurance, regardless of age or disability status. As projected by the CBO analysis "CBO 03-10-Reducing The Deficit - Medicare Public Option", the premiums paid will support traditional medicare costs, be lower than those required by the health insurance industry resulting in greater competition, and contribute to reducing the federal deficit. Medicare as a "public option" was supported by the majority of doctors in a 2012 survey by the Pennsylvania Medical Society. The administrative costs of medicare are dramatically less than the overhead of for-profit health insurers; medicare enrollment and claims processing functions are already fully developed (an obvious advantage over "health Insurance exchanges").
