In order for America to fully and smoothly embrace the metric system, the younger generation must be brought up under metric system.
Even though U.S. has officially been using metric system, it is not developed in the daily lives of Americans. Many industry still relies on customary system and college courses are still taught with inches, feet, and miles. The time for America to move forward is long overdue.
Metric system has immense advantage over the current U.S. customary system. Such information can be easily found across multiple media. The only opposition to the switch is the current generation's willing refusal to change. If we educate our children in metric and wait for the current generation to die, America can become a metric nation with few turbulences in the transition.
