Currently, a presidential candidate must muster at least 15% support from at least five credible polls in order to participate in any national presidential debates. This accounts for the inability of third party members to debate alongside the two major parties and perpetuates a lack of support for third party candidates. Recently, Gallup measured that only 26% of Americans feel that the two major parties are doing an adequate job, while 60% of Americans see the need for another option. We are calling for the minimum percentage of support required for national debate participation to be lowered to 3% across at least five credible polls instead of 15%. We need to create an electoral system in which people have the ability to be exposed to and vote for people they would want to support.
