Make Monday, December 24, 2012 a holiday for federal employees, as it was in 2001 and 2007.

Created by K.M. on November 27, 2012

Over the past 2 1/2 years, federal employees have faced a prolonged pay freeze as well uncertainty over a government shut down, jobs, and the future of their benefits. But while morale is down, dedication to the mission persists. During this time, defense employees especially have contributed to efforts to end one war, wind down another, and capture and kill the most wanted man on the planet. This petition proposes that, as a morale booster, the Obama administration declare Monday, December 24, 2012 an administrative holiday in order to give an extended 4-day Christmas holiday to federal employees. This would extend a precedent set by the previous administration, which declared holidays on December 24 in 2001 and 2007 and December 26 in 2003 and 2008, by executive order.
