Make My Country tTs of Thee the official national anthem of the United States.

Created by C.M. on October 27, 2015

"The Star Spangled Banner" was not the national anthem until 1931, before then the unofficial national anthem was "My Country Tis of Thee". While the current national anthem depicts an event that heppened during the war of 1812. It is gloomy and shows the sights of war with lyrics such as " and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air". It has also been noted that the flag that Key was referring to may have been a new flag that was raised after that long night, which would contradict "Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there". After considering these factors "My Country Tis of Thee" would be a better fit as the official national anthem. Not only is it a more uplifting tune, it still contains the same principles as our current anthem without the depiction of war.
