If NASA is to succeed, it should go back to being what government should be: risk reducers for private/commercial investment!
NASA should be doing what is too risky for private industry to take on, with the intent of gradually retiring that risk so that eventually commercialization can take that over and let Government move on to the next high-pain unknown-solution problem. NASA should be doing unique, one of a kind, research and development that industry would never dare invest in.
NASA has been asked to be 100% successful and this by definition denies its purpose because it impedes innovation, removes all risk, and forces the government to do what private industry can do better and cheaper.
Force the White House to restore NASA in its proper role of smart risk takers and pioneers!
