To start to eliminate the national debt we can start, according to The Huffington Post and Investopedia, by stopping human space exploration, by employing a government bailout, Raise taxes on higher income citizens, impose taxes on green house gas emissions, increase taxes on cigarettes by at least 50 cents, etc.
Another way Investopedia suggests to lower the national debt is to create more jobs; however, Bernie Sanders, on his website, elaborates further as to say to do so we should "... stop allowing the wealthy and large corporations to avoid paying taxes by setting up tax havens in foreign countries..." Also on the issue he speaks about ending tax breaks to large energy companies such as gas, oil, and coal companies.
In summary there are many ways to lower the national debt. So start!
