Make National Election Days National Holidays that require holiday benefits.

Created by H.N. on September 26, 2015

Many cannot go vote because they cannot get the time off of work. National Election Days are not protected holidays. Some people risk losing their jobs to go vote. Others cannot afford to take the day off to vote. Voting should be a mandatory paid holiday. Every citizen deserves the right to vote, and many employers are denying them that right. If a person holds a job in transportation (air, and city bus, train etc) they should be paid at least time and a half for being required to work on a national election day.

This one act would likely increase numbers at the polls and get more people to vote, especially the younger generation.
