In light of recent walkouts in the house it should be instated that any elected official, regardless of affiliation will be docked an entire month of pay for every day of voluntary absence while there are issues that have a direct and severe impact on the American people including financial , healthcare, and judicial issues.
No one man or woman in an elected leadership position is capable of making decisions without being held fully accountable and automatically penalized by authority of the American people for blatant ignorance of their job at hand. We cannot function as a country if our leadership cannot be held accountable for their actions.
Furthermore, these fines should be placed into a new account with the sole purpose of paying off the national debt.
