The government wants to ban military style weapons so that they will have the edge if it ever comes to a revolution. The 2nd amendment was given to us by our founding fathers to protect our own rights, foreign and domestic. It was not made for personal defense or hunting. It was specifically designed so that we the people will always have control over our own country. Teaching children at a young age how to handle a firearm is crucial. Also see how a child is raised before letting him have access to legal firearms. His or hers local middle/high school will have records on behavioral problems. If the child shows signs of any disorder at a young age we can identify them earlier and prevent them from ever purchasing a gun. Also Arm the authority figures in schools so they can stop shootings.
