make this not true anymore. Only in the US do we spend 40,000 a year per inmate and only 8,000 for a kids education.

Only in America do we spend on average 40,000 a year to incarcerate someone, where they are fed 3 meals a day, and only 8000 a year on a child's education. This is absolutely unacceptable. Millions of these inmates live better lives and better cared for than the children in our country where millions go hungry every night or live on the streets. This is not just an education problem it resonates all through society. These inmates get healthcare, food, clothes, jobs, help when they get out. What do our children get? A government that cares more about putting people in jail, millions of non violent people who made a mistake, than them and their education and welfare.
