The selection of electors to represent a state's vote for the Office of the President is no longer needed. When originally enacted, news and information took days, even weeks, to reach their destination, thus leaving a large majority of the people unaware of current events during times of necessity. By each state holding individual elections to determine an elector to vote for them, the system was easier. Now, with advancements in technology, information travels at a fraction of a second, thus rendering null, the need for electors. In addition, the current system allows a candidate to win the election by getting 51% of the vote in as few as 12 states, thus not allowing for a true democratic decision of the populous of the Nation.
