Make an official statement on the President's views on vaccination, particularly efficacy, safety, and exemptions.

Created by J.H. on June 27, 2014

Vaccinations have been an important part of improving health since the mid-20th century. Since that time, diseases like polio, measles, etc. have been all but eliminated.

The anti-vaccination (or "antivax") movement has gained popularity in the past 15 years, particularly due to efforts such as the discredited former Doctor, Andrew Wakefield, anti-vaccination organizations, and celebrities like Jenny McCarthy.

Many children, and some adults, are unable to be vaccinated due to complications from cancer, organ transplants, or other diseases.

We ask that the President officially state his position on vaccines, their efficacy and safety, and stance with respect to non-medical exemptions. We also ask that he urge vaccination opponents to reconsider their stance for the public good.
