There are no primates, other than man (homo sapiens) living within the boundaries of the United States of America. However, given the extreme threat that the Orangutan is presently under from palm oil plantations replacing rainforest, other countries that do have native non-human primates may lose those within the next several decades.
If the United States could assist in the survival of one of those primates, it would strengthen our bonds with those who are concerned about the survival of primates world-wide, and also give our statements of concern about the environment credibility. Taking part in a collective project of several nations, when the benefit is for all mankind, is a model for environmental action that is sorely needed at this point in the history of mankind.
