make paid Maternity, Paternity and Adoption leave a statutory right for all American citizens.

Created by S.V. on October 06, 2014

The United States is one of only four countries globally, and the only high-income country, without a statutory right to paid maternity leave for employees. Lesotho, Swaziland and Papua New Guinea are the only other countries that do not offer paid maternity leave.
World-wide, paid maternity leave ranges from 70 days at 50% pay in Saudi Arabia to 280 days at 90% pay in the United Kingdom.
Keeping new parents happy makes more sense and is more cost effective than replacing them.
Our country touts its "family values" and says its the bedrock and framework of American society, but is also the one country that consistently fails to support the family at the most basic levels.
