Make Paid Parental Leave Available for All Working Parents

Created by A.S. on August 05, 2015

The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world where paid maternal leave is not required to be offered to all working mothers. In total, only three countries in the world do not offer paid maternity leave: Papa New Guinea, Suriname, and the United States. For working mothers who cannot afford to take a leave of absence, often the only choice is to leave their child with a caretaker they often also cannot afford, and return to work. Those who do choose to take a leave of absence are often forced to sacrifice career performance. Ask Congress to propose a bill that makes paid parental leave a mandatory option for both fathers and mothers, so that both men and women can share the responsibility of a child and so no mother has to choose between her career and her family.
