Pursuant to the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Act of 1974, Congress is required to pass an annual budget, yet there is no penalty for violation of this Act. Thus, Congress has NOT passed a budget in almost four years. Further, Congress continues to incur debt, by operating under deficit, and passing the responsibility of paying that debt off to their successors.
As such, we the people demand that should Congress...
a) fail to pass an annual budget as required by the aforementioned Act, or
b) pass a budget that in any way adds to our national debt,
...that every sitting Senator and Representative be disqualified from re-election. It is the sworn duty of Congress to exercise stewardship over the taxpayer's money, and failure to do so is dereliction of that duty.
