AM radio SYNCHRONOUS BOOSTERS IN PUERTO RICO HAVE SHOWN TO BE AN EXCELLENT TOOL TO IMPROVE/EXPAND AN AM STATION SIGNAL. WAPA-AM/WISO-AM in PUERTO RICO, USA are OPERATING FOR 17, 14 and 13 YEARS RESPECTIVELY SUCCESSFUL boosters IN MAYAGUEZ, AGUADILLA and ARECIBO. The FCC wants to shut down ALL THREE and another booster WIAC has in Puerto Rico effective this coming May/2017.
The FCC pretends to discourage other broadcasters that would be interested in operating a synchronous booster cancelling the licenses of existing boosters. Signing this petition could convince the FCC that AM synchronous boosters licensing should be made permanent. A petition for rulemaking RM-11779 has been opened at www.fcc.gov/ecfs. Comments are due Dec. 29/2016.
