Make physical education mandatory in all states (K-12)

Created by R.A. on March 27, 2013

On February 02, 2010 H.R. 4557 (111th): (titled) Physical Education to Create a Healthier Nation Act was introduced by Representative Joe Baca. The bill called to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to ensure that schools have education programs that meet minimum requirements for physical education. Unfortunately, the bill died in Committee.

H.R. 4557 (111th): (titled) Physical Education to Create a Healthier Nation Act needs to be passed in order to reduce the number of cases of childhood obesity.

H.R. 4557 should:

1) Add "make physical education mandatory in all states (K-12)" to H.R. 4557, Physical Education to Create a Healthier Nation Act

2) Define "minimum requirements” as…
-150 minutes for elementary schools
-225 minutes for middle and high school
