Obesity is the #2 cause of preventable deaths in the United States. It is the cause of about 300,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.
Nearly 32% of children and adolescents are obese, and nearly 80% of them are likely to become obese in adulthood as well.
Americans have developed such bad eating habits as wells as exercise habits. 78% of Americans do not meet the basic recommendations for daily activities. If these habits to do not change or improve, close to half of the American population will be obese by the year 2030.
If all schools make it mandatory for kids to take some sort of physical education or fitness class, then hopefully these numbers can decrease, and the people in our nation will become healthier.
