Make politicians tell us if they've been backed by an industry that is to be affected by policies they implement.

Too often, democracy is put on hold because of private interests that override the will of the people. It may not be possible to overhaul the system entirely, but if we're to be subjected to the will of those with limitless funding, we should at least know when it is those interests being pursued and not our own. At least with something like this in place, we would be able to exercise our democratic right to oust people from office who we deem to not be working in our own interest. Transparency and ease of knowledge is the key to a functioning and healthy democracy. We ought not have to search for this information ourselves, but for the backers to be laid out and stated as clearly as the laws themselves.
