The poverty line in 2014 is way too high for us to give people in poverty help, and the minimum wage is too low in 2014 to help support workers in poverty.
If the poverty line is lowered, more people get help, and fewer are in poetry. Right now the minimum wage if $7.25 per hour. This is an inadequate wage for a worker trying to support their family.
