Recent advances in science and technology have greatly advanced our knowledge of human DNA and our ability to manipulate and change it. One of these new discoveries is the ability to map and modify the human genes in embryos. Babies created this way are known as "designer babies" and can be an attractive possibility for many prospective parents. There are many reasons why it would be unethical to choose physical traits (such as eye and hair color) or things like athleticism, intelligence and artistic ability. These include an unfair advantage of the wealthy, an increase in discrimination, a lack of genetic diversity, and an imbalance of males and females in certain parts of the world.
