Veterans Choice, the VA-related healthcare program under which veterans can receive care through a non-VA doctor if they are more than 40 miles from the nearest VA clinic or can't see a VA doctor within 30 days, does NOT cover medications for veterans, which are necessary and can be life-saving. They also do not cover durable medical equipment such as hearing aids, mobility devices or breathing equipment, which are necessary for a veteran's well being. In order to receive these items, the veteran must receive care from a VA hospital or clinic, which negates the need for Veterans Choice altogether. We demand that the Veterans Choice program be amended to allow for durable medical equipment and prescriptions to be provided to US Veterans at no cost through their Veterans Choice physician.
