The United States presidential election is easily the most widely-covered, discussed and debated event that has world-wide ramifications. Americans deserve a national election day holiday so they may vote for their candidate and then relax as the votes are counted. Considering the economics of closing businesses and government offices for this event, the fiscal impact is lessened if this holiday is observed only for presidential elections. Frankly, observing the end of the exhausting, incessant political advertisements and news segments that flood our lives in the preceding months is good reason for a holiday, and being able to observe the result of our collective efforts is deserving of a day away from work! Please join me in making this day a celebration of our democratic process!
