Make pressuring the Congress to pass the Federal Assault Weapons Ban the FIRST priority of the new Presidential term

Created by L.H. on December 14, 2012

President Obama,
You have stated your support for the Federal Assault Weapons Ban to be reinstated. Now after a year that has seen numerous high-profile gun deaths including the horrible tragedy in Connecticut today, I ask that you make the first priority of your new Presidential term, passage of legislation that reflects the H.R. 6257 Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (the most recent reintroduction of the bill). This would be a strong statement that you acknowledge that Assault Weapons should not be in the hands of ordinary citizens and especially criminals. It would also show that the NRA and other gun lobbies do not control the White House's decision-making in regards to public safety. Thank you for your consideration.
