We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Make preventing genocide in Burundi an urgent diplomatic priority.

Created by U.G. on June 16, 2016

Horrifically, Burundi is on the brink of genocide.

US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power wrote on 11/5: "We are deeply concerned by President Nkurunziza’s...pledge to use violent methods to have security forces search homes for weapons and opposition figures within five days...Whether in Kirundi or English, this language is terrifying...'you have to pulverize, you have to exterminate—these people are only good for dying.'"

Conflict there is not a reality; it is a fate that the country and international community can change. We request that President Obama make the moral choice: condemn recent events, support Ambassador Power, and make preventing genocide an urgent diplomatic priority.

Will we let another 1994 Rwanda happen, once again doing nothing to help prevent the killings?
