Lobbying groups are agents of companies that gain audiences with legislators and attorney generals to attempt to influence policy. The goal of lobbyist is to policy to be more favorable for their agenda. These groups have been made constitutional by the supreme court, but there still is the question of civilian right to information.
We as American citizens have a right to know who each member of our leadership is affiliated with. We have a right to know where their campaign finances are coming from. We have a right to know just what brand of politician we are voting for. If a company is able to influence a legislator to take an unfavorable stance, the politician should not be able to hide the evidence of their undesirable stance through omission of the source of their campaign funding.
