The title pretty much sums it up. We're currently using the death penalty to execute criminals who take the lives of others, while rapists and child molesters go free after very short sentences. Sexual violence is the "gift that just keeps giving" with depression, mental illness, substance abuse, and all too often suicide. Rape hurts the victim for a lifetime, long after the physical act has happened.
Executing convicted rapists and child molesters would not only punish the offender, it would cut down on future victims and give existing victims peace of mind that their attacker can never hurt them or anyone else again.
This is not meant to advocate the execution of "statutory" rapists (for example a 18 year old having consenting sex with a 17 year old)
