The Senate is in recess until February 22, 2016. The Republican leadership have all indicated that they will not give the President a fair hearing or a vote on the appointment of a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Therefore we respectfully petition President Obama to use his executive authority to make a recess appointment of a replacement for Justice Scalia. There are too many important issues pending before the Supreme to allow partisan political opposition to delay the appointment of a replacement.
We urge this recess appointment which will be legal and lawful and for the benefit of the nation while the Senate is still in recess.
