It has become a more and more pressing issue now that more people are on welfare everyday, and that some are just conning the system for drug money. This petition is asking that for every person, with no exceptions, has to take a drug test when they are to receive their monthly welfare check. If they fail this test, that would check for common drugs (Weed, Cocaine, Ectasy, Meth, etc.), they would not receive the check and would have to wait till next month to try again (the money would not be compensated from the previous month).
This is to ensure that our tax dollars are helping a family in need and not some gangster's coke addiction. The world is constantly evolving and this is one of the ways to help the government keep up with the changing world.
