We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Make recycling, composting, and sustainable materials reuse nationwide requirements.

Created by N.M. on November 23, 2016

Some US municipalities like Seattle have created easy to use, mandatory curb-side recycling and composting programs. We ask that the federal government use these programs as models to create mandatory, nationwide recycling and composting programs.

In order to maintain the kind of economic growth expected by our society, we need to continually buy, use, and dispose of things. However, our planet does not have the resources or the space to create that much stuff, or to accept it back as trash. As our topsoil is rapidly depleted, our oceans fill with plastic, and landfills continue to increase in size, we cannot sit by and wait for states to act.

A federal program which assists states in creating local, innovative solutions is needed.
