KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today vowed never to give up fighting for the release of her husband Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim who was jailed for five years on February 10 for sodomy
The general perception by the Opposition and others is that the jailing of Anwar was politically motivated.
The 67-year-old Anwar’s bid to lead Parliamentary debates from the Opposition bench was rejected by the Prisons Department last week.
An MP jailed for not less than a year or fined not less than RM2,000 would automatically lose his seat. Anwar’s parliamentary seat has not been declared vacant because his family’s application for a royal pardon has yet to be been decided on.
“Yes I am sad, I am a woman, I am a wife, I have emotions,” his wife Dr Wan Azizah, who is Kajang state assemblywoman,
