Revisions should be made to the Fair Labor Standards Act in order to allow home health care aides to receive the same benefits that all other workers receive under the Act. The revisions would ensure minimum wage and overtime for people whose job is to assist elderly people and help them take care of themselves. Right now, a family could pay a home health care aide however much they wanted to and without any overtime pay. Revisions are needed now. If these elderly people were sent to a nursing home, people who do the exact same job as home health care aides would receive the benefits of minimum wage and overtime. It’s not right that even with people do the same job, there are people who are treated worse than the others. Sign to encourage the President to make this proposal a priority.
