Make the salary of congress performance based and remove their ability to vote for their own pay raises.

Congressman are paid approximately $174,000 per year, far more than the average American, who gets paid approximately $40,000 per year. This petition is to decreases congresses guaranteed salary to whatever the average American is paid during that year. The other portion of the salary (amount to be determined later) will be performance based. The conditions to be considered while determining this "bonus" include net jobs created/lost, net increase/decrease of national debt, change in inflation, and other metrics. In addition, congress will no longer be allowed to vote to determine their own pay, as it is for the rest of Americans. Congress' pay will be dependent on the country as a whole. If they want a pay raise, then they must improve conditions in the entire country to do so.
