Make the Second Monday in October "Neil Armstrong Day" to promote STEM awareness and a day all Americans can celebrate.

Created by R.N. on October 21, 2013

The Second Monday in October has traditionally been Columbus Day. But who wants to celebrate a controversial Italian mercenary working for Spain? This petition proposes that the day will be re-named "Neil Armstrong Day" in honor of one of America's greatest explorers. Instead of hard feelings, this day will bring greater awareness to STEM education, space exploration, engineering and American innovation. We want a day that all Americans can celebrate and a day that will inspire future generations to continue to learn, grown and explore. Science and engineering are cool. Neil himself said so. Let's get together and be makers, explorers and dreamers. Let's have a day that honors this. And let's name it after Neil Armstrong.
