As a nation we have become more aware and appreciative of the many contributions made by Americans of all races, creeds and genders, to America and her defense.
In light of our continued path towards a "more perfect" union and a "more true" definition of equality, we should remove the gender-rule for mandatory registration in the Selective Service System (SSS). Currently, only men are required to register, and the law provides that:
"A man who fails to register may, if prosecuted and convicted, face a fine of up to $250,000 and/or a prison term of up to five years."
This unfairly discriminates against women, by not affording them the same privileges granted to all male citizens and non-citizens within the United States.
