Make sexuality a protected class so it can avoid discrimination under the same basis that race and religion do.

I believe that filing and moving sexuality, and perhaps gender, into the protected class list would reduce or eliminate or alleviate much of the current challenges facing those with that status. While we cannot eliminate all hate, we can generate movement and progress in a positive direction.
