Wounded Knee Creek is the site of a massacre of members of the Sioux Native American tribe in 1890. It was also the site of further standoffs between the Sioux and Federal agents in the 1970s.
The land is currently up for sale (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/31/us/wounded-knee-site-for-sale-stirring...) and the goal of this petition is simply to get together the amount of money required for the US Government to purchase the land and save it in perpetuity.
The people who were lost there deserve to be remembered now and for all time.
