There is no valid, legal, or most importantly, ethical reason to tax social security income in this country. Going back to the 50% limit is the very leat that should be done. Every thing over 50% is double taxation. If you did not get the memo, a few fellas had a meeting in Boston Harbor on that very issue a few years back. 100% tax free is ethical in that it properly thanks the taxpayer for devoting his, or her working career to paying taxes and supporting the country.
