We would be fine with the Social Security tax increase if 100% of the funds were actually going to Social Security, but they're not. Instead the politicians will use that for pointless wars, foreign aid to countries that hate us, pet projects, anything as long as it's not helping the American people.
Obama promised to help the middle class, but the reality is that we are being overburdened with taxes. Make social security optional for the middle class, like a retirement savings account. The amount one paid towards Social Security is the measure one will get after retirement.
The fact that the government thinks it can do a better job of managing retirement funds than we can, is a joke.
