Animals as wonderful as Sciuridae — the scientific name for the squirrel family — deserve appreciation. On Squirrel Appreciation Day they're usually running low on food. squirrels don’t hibernate. They’re out there 24/7 365 days a year. Squirrel Appreciation Day is an opportunity to enjoy and appreciate your tree climbing, nut gathering neighborhood squirrels. Squirrels spend all fall gathering and "squirreling " away food. But, their supplies may not be enough. And, the variety of food is limited. With a National Holiday we can remind fellow Americans to give them an extra special treat to supplement their winter diets.
Squirrel Appreciation Day is always January 21st so this is the day that should be a National Holiday.
