Make St. Patricks Day a national holiday

Hundreds of millions of Americans can trace thier ancestral roots to Ireland. This country was built on the backs of Irish immigrants who worked horrible hours and for horrible wages. They fought through decades of discrimination and contempt only to become one of Americas largest and most succesful ethnic groups. They have fought in wars, built cities, help connect the country with the Trans continental railroad and even occupied the white house. Lets give the Irish a proper show of respect for all they have done for this country both past and present instead of just an excuse for people to get drunk
