Numerous tests have shown that the waterways in Rio are littered with pathogens and sewage posing a serious health risk to all athletes competing in the 2016 Olympic games. Athletes have already become ill during practice runs, and nothing is being done to improve these conditions.
Please hold accountable the Olympic committee and organizers to think about the health and safety of all athletes, and put those considerations ahead of the success of the event. If the Olympic committee would not swim in the water, then neither should any athletes.
