We are asking that Step-Parent Adoption be made easier when a biological parent refuses to sign their rights away and have failed to have any form of communication or visitation with their biological child/ren and or have evaded willingly paying child support. This would also include when a biological parent only pays child support through wage or IRS tax return garnishment but there is sufficient evidence that the parent has evaded working or has worked for cash in order to avoid paying child support. We ask that the Step-Parent be able to adopt a child that they have been raising when the biological parent have not made any effort in parenting their child/ren in two or more years. This would allow for more Step-Parent Adoptions that would be in the best interest of the child/ren.
