America cannot support the repeated killing and mutilation of unborn children as a substitute for preventative birth control. While sterilization can be reversed, this ensures that a repeated situation of unwanted pregnancy will not occur a second time without forethought and planning. This petition recognizes the simple fact that surgical procedures (abortions) are not an intelligent substitute for preventative forms of birth control (e.g. condoms, etc.). Women and doctors are fully capable of preventing crisis before it reoccurs. Such a measure should allow the father of the aborted child to serve as a proxy (substitute) for sterilization in place of the female, upon written agreement of that party. Women are given the choice of having their "tubes tied" during every cesarean birth.
