Pets should not be considered property in a court of law. They are living creatures with a thinking process that allows them to feel emotions. They experience pain, grief, joy, hunger, and a lot of other feelings just as people experience. We need laws that reflect our beliefs about pets and the roles they play in our lives. We need stricter laws, much harsher punishments and a registry for animal abusers.
