make street harassment punishable by law.

Created by A.B. on September 03, 2014

Street harassment plagues women and non-gender binary people of all ages in our country. Harassment perpetuates rape culture and violence. When harassed, there is no possible recourse. If one acknowledges or speaks back to the attacker, one risks provoking violence. We propose to make street harassment (defined as threatening or unwanted sexual advances) illegal, and to put systems into place to enforce this law.

We suggest a two strike system; whereupon;
- a first offense, the perpetrator must pay a large fine to the injured party ($500, scalable upwards by income bracket)
- a second offense, the perpetrator must undergo an operation to sever the vocal chords.

It's time to make the streets safe for all, and end tolerance of harassment.
